The Ampeau family have been skilled wine-growers for generations - for them, wine is a question of passion and an art. They sell only matured wines which are ready to be savoured - a sign of the respect they feel for their produce. Enchanting red wines - smooth, well-balanced, full-bodied in the mouth with lovely mellow tannins and lots of character and charm. Excellent length and aromatic complexity with notes of red fruit, spices and humus. The whites are aged to perfection with their excellent balance and strong typical character, intense, classical and very elegant.
Indulge yourself with this splendid Meursault Charmes 1996, marked by its terroir, with the effluves of fresh berries and toasted bread, of a beautiful creaminess, of powerful mouth, dense, all in nuances, a wine combining finesse and structure, to lead to cassolettes of crayfish and chanterelles or a chicken with almonds. Superb Meursault premier cru La Pièce Sous le Bois 1995, very typical, with discreetly mineral aromas, a dense and balanced wine, with a slightly lemony mouth, full of elegance, really very nice on a prawns flan with parsley or a mushroom cream with lobster, for example. The Blagny La Pièce Under the Red Wood 1990, both fine and full-bodied, has very persistent notes of blackberry, violet and spices, very velvety tannins, a wine all in mouth, charming.
Excellent Savigny-lès-Beaune Lavières 1997, all in elegance, very fruity, with very harmonious tannins but also firm, with complex nose (leather, raspberry, blackberry). And there is still this great Pommard 1996, ample and dense, with ample tannins, fat, very fragrant (fresh fruit, undergrowth, spices...), splendid on a pheasant with wild mushroom fricassee or a hare on the pike.
