Robert MUHLBERGER - Vine grower and oenologist, present the Muhlberger Vineyards.
Family winegrowing since four generations, led by Robert & Astrid Muhlberger, Philippe Muhlberger their son. Their philosophy vigneronne is summarized in these words: “To live with the Vine! To live with the Wine!”. According to rules and convictions definite and tested by generations of vine growers, so that is written: “Vineyard, Vine, Wine of Vine grower, with V of Truth!”. To mature with wisdom and passion, in the compliance with traditional rules, are the means implemented with an aim of producing authentic wines and of rare elegance.
A mode of respectful control of the environment: permanent putting under grass of the vines, not of chemical amendments nor of remanent weedkillers, fights biological against the ravageurs, interventions reasoned against the diseases containing copper and sulfur, observation and respect of the natural cycle of the vine and the plants on the ground, reinforcement of the proper capacities of defense of the vine, contributions of natural trace elements on foliage…
Harvest: manual grape harvest to return a selected harvest, whole, not triturated and properly sorted grapes.
Wine making: to work out the wines by respecting their own rate/rhythm of evolution, with wisdom and patience, starting from spontaneous fermentations without yeast contributions commercial.
Wines: one thus includes/understands their superb Riesling Les Vieux Coteaux 2004 (evolution in the denomination of their Riesling Altenberg by his translation in Riesling Les Vieux Coteaux: it is a question of their decision in the future of not more asserting the appellation Grand Cru for the pieces delimited in the perimeter in question), of nice golden dress, a wine of beautiful vinosity but with this characteristic nervousness, of good mouth, with the notes of fresh flowers and citrus fruits. Beautiful Clos Philippe Grass Riesling 2005, delicate, complex, with the nose of fresh small fruits (lemon-yellow…), very quite well-balanced, of mouth suave. Taste the Pinot blanc 2004, of very subtle mouth with nuances of almond, mouthfull like this Pinot noir 2004, of beautiful dress, rich person with the nose as in mouth, which feels the ripe fruits good, that it is necessary to let open out. Excellent Pinot noir cuvée des Jeunes Loups 2004, of which the maturing is done out of barrels of oak, with a strong color, with the fruity and floral notes complex, combining structure and smoothness, tasty, of dense mouth. Le Pinot gris Domaine du Pas des Loups 2005, typified and complex, with the intense nose, is a wine all in delicacy in mouth, of a good aromatic persistence. Superb Gewurztraminer Vendanges Tardives 2004, a rare great wine, of a very great complexity with the nose as in mouth, still well far from its maturity. In the line, this Riesling Vendanges Tardives 2004, with these notes characteristic of hazel nut and honey, combining suppleness and structure, of deep and persistent mouth, great evolution. The Crémant d' Alsace Blanc de blancs brut méthode traditionnelle is always with the head of its appellation, foam delicate, of a beautiful harmony, very out of fruit and smoothness, full, with the subtle nuances of apple and dry fruits, suave, rich in mouth (citrus fruits, hawthorn, almond…), very harmonious.
