The wild grape was already consumed in the area here more than 10.000 years.
The wine, made him its appearance only at the 7th century before J.C., it was provided by the Etruscan merchants. One century before our era, the culture of the vine existed on the winegrowing of Château Mourviels, which would have belonged to a Roman called Festus. At the Means-age, the property and the vineyard depended, with a group of firm neighbors, priory of Saint Sernin very close. During XXe century, the winegrowing is transmitted from generation to generation and it is currently the third generation of vine growers which is with the orders. All will work for the most perfect quality, until Château Mourviels of today, one of the florets of A.O.C. Cabardès.
The vineyard of 10 ha, is located on slopes made up of white calcareous stones and marly clays, directed at midday. The control of the winegrowing is done according to soft techniques, authorizing the treatments and artificial fertilizers only in the event of need. That gives this very good Cabardès 2006 (40% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 30% Grenache, 20% Merlot, 10% Syrah), not of mechanical intervention after de-stemming, manual punching of the cap (no reassembly nor unballasting), minimum ageing 1 year ferments on the lees delicate with bâtonnages. The wine is successful, combining smoothness and structure, with firm and silky tannins at the same time, of spiced and full mouth
