In the foothills of the Costières de Nîmes, Château Mourgues du Grès is nestled between vineyards, scrubland and orchards. This biodiversity is valuable in our approach to organic farming.
In the courtyard of the domain, the sundial "SINE SOLE NIHIL" (Nothing without sun), evokes the search for a beautiful maturity. The soil of pebbles carried by the Rhone contributes by its minerality to the balance of the wine.
Sulphite-free vinifications give the fruit more purity and shine. A light intake and a light filtration at bottling ensure the stability of the wine.
François Collard, an agronomist and oenologist, made his first arms at Château Lafite-Rothschild in Médoc, and returned to the family farm in 1990. He wishes to reveal this terroir, the purity of the fruit and the freshness of the aromas. His wife Anne joined him in 1995 to support him in this adventure.
We tasted and enjoyed this Costières-de-Nîmes red Terre d'Argence 2016, with a nose of violet and overripened red fruits, a firm and dense wine, of a deep purple colour, with structured but supple tannins. As well as this IGP Pont du Gard white Terre d'Argence 2017 old vines of Viognier and Petit Manseng, with a touch of Rousssane, which gives off subtle aromas of almond and lime, suave in the mouth but of lively character, of a nice finish.
