Founded in 1935 by Antoine CLAVELIER, then directed by his 3 children, Clavelier & Fils acquired a solid reputation with private customers , especially in Switzerland and in the Paris region. In 2001, Isabelle and Henri Noël THOMAS take over the business and develop the French market with specialists wine shops and with export in Belgium, Luxembourg, Holland, Denmark, Germany, the Czech Republic. In 2005, Philippe Bouchard integrates the business as a cellar master, to replace Gérard Clavelier, son of the founder. In 2006, Clavelier & Fils acquires a parcel of vines in Fixin, to anchor itself even more in the Côte de Nuits. In 2008, a range of modern labels is developed to renovate the traditional image of Burgundy. In 2008 also, a commercial representative office was opened in Tokyo to develop the Asian region. Sylvain Deschaumes joined our team, after business studies and with a good knowledge of the Japanese language. We have thus expanded our export markets to China, South Korea, Japan.
In 2009, a small range of regional appellations is bottled with screw-cap bottles, whose development seems to accelerate. In order to preserve a high-end image of our wines, we have used bottles of beautiful quality. Our white 2007 are very aromatic, lovely length with a slightly crisp finish. Reds 2007 have a fairly vivid robe, aromas of black fruits and red compotes, a flattering mouth with no asperity. White 2006 have a perfect balance: white and exotic fruit, full-bodied and with a good grip. Reds 2006 have a very beautiful red berry freshness mingled with a touch of chocolate and crust of bread, depending on the use of new barrels during maturation. They have a good attractive balance.
