The estate is run by a family company which devotes all its energy to the
management of two separate estates - Château Lardière, an estate near
Bordeaux in the Premières Côtes de Blaye appellation and the Domaine de
Jérémie which produces Pineau des Charentes. Over five generations, the
Bordeaux vineyard, located in Marcillac, has been progessively extended to
reach 20 hectares today. 17 hectares are planted with Merlot Noir and
Cabernet Sauvignon and produce a fruity red wine, very traditional and
typical with good body and a complex nose of red-fruit and humus aromas.
It combines both suppleness and structure and has excellent ageing
capacities. On the 3 remaining hectares, they grow Sauvignon vines for the
most part, but also Muscadelle other traditional varietie to produce a superb white wine which is fruity and delicious, fine
and very elegant.
The family has also been running the Domaine de Jérémie for a century. This
property in the Charentes region covers 27 hectares planted with old Ugni
Blanc and Colombard vines (35 years old) on slightly stony soils. It
produces Cognac and the grape juice which is used to make Pineau Blanc, that
gold-coloured aperitif with aromas of white flowers, honey and almonds. On
just 2 hectares of land, they also produce a small quantity of Pineau Rosé
with Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon grapes. Blended with cognac, it makes a
bright red aperitif which is most sediuctive with its aromas of blackcurrant
and blackberry.
