In the heart of the Sauternes area, this vast estate covers 200 hectares of
land. It was Jacques de Malle who had this magnificent château built at the
dawn of the 17th century. Today, it is a listed historical monument,
remarkable for its Mansart tiled rooves and well worth a visit to see its
delightful Florentine gardens laid out on terraces. The vineyard of 27
hectares of Sauternes and 23 hectares of Graves lies in a single stretch
around the château. It is planted on a well-orientated plateau, slightly
hilly, with subsoils of silica, sand and clay-gravel. Château de Malle is a
Sauternes Grand Cru Classé with characteristic aromas of honey, almonds and
candied apricot and good ageing capacity.
In Graves, M. de Malle is a lovely white wine matured in new barrels. Fine,
racy and very elegant. The Château de Cardaillan Red is both rounded and
full-bodied, more supple than the
Château Tours de Malle.
