The origins of the property go back to the beginning of XVe century, and the château de Castegens is transmitted in the same family since 1862. The site is during the summer the theater of the reconstitution with large spectacle (600 actors), of the battle of Castillon (1453) which marks the end of the One hundred years war. The current owner, applies to maintain a harmony between traditional, respectful culture of the environment, and modern wine making.
The Côtes-de-Castillon 2005 (65% of Merlot, 30% of Cabernet franc and 5% of Cabernet-Sauvignon), is of a beautiful dark red, concentrated, full, velvety and fruity in mouth, with supple tannins and well farms at the same time. The 2004, are a wine all in aromas, quite fleshy and fat, with the nose intense and complex, robust and well-constited, with blackberry and raspberry aromas, of very good guard. Also taste, the vintage La Croix de Castegens 2005, 12 months maturing out of tanks, garnet-red robe vivid, robust mouth, scented (ripe raspberry), of beautiful structure.
