Founded about 1870 in Banyuls-sur-Mer, the winegrowing of Casa Blanca is one of oldest vintages Banyuls and Collioure, located on the Vermilion Coast, in the Eastern Pyrenees (Roussillon). On 8 hectares of plantations and old vines in terraces, Laurent Escapa and Herve Levano give rise to generous wines, expressing these schist soils fully: Collioure (still wine) and Banyuls (sweet aperitif wine). Since 2001, abandonment of the plant health products of synthesis for the treatments of the vine. The artificial fertilizers were replaced by composts since 1989. The ground is worked by animal haulage (ploughing with the mule) on one the third of the estate. The remainder is weeded chemically. Tests of putting under grass are in hand to be freed completely from weeding. Late “Put” BANYULS 2006: 80% Grenache Black, 20% Grenache Gray; old 80 year old vines. (20 hectos/ha). Cellaring: 20 years and longer. Colour and taste: Tile-like ruby colour. Nose: raspberry brandy, intense. Kirsch-like attack in the mouth, raspberry to brandy notes with a hint of pepper. Rounded tannins, lingering aftertaste. Matching dishes: aperitifs, desserts (chocolate, clafoutis, raspberry sorbet) and blue-veined cheeses. BANYULS 2007 : 60% Grenache Noir, 40% Grenache Gris; 70-year-old vines (20 hectolitres/ha) "Rimage"-style (fruity) Banyuls. 12 months in the absence of oxygen. Cellaring: 20 years and longer. Colour and taste: Dark red. Nose: ripe fruit, jam. Slightly acidic in the mouth, hints of cocoa and licquorice. Lingering aftertaste and roundness in the mouth. COLLIOURE 2007 : 80% Grenache Noir, 20% Shiraz; vines around 15 years old (25 hectolitres/ha). 12 months in barrel. Cellaring: 7-10 years. Colour and taste: Good purple colour. Complex nose of spices, black soft fruit (blackberries and blackcurrants) and red soft fruit (cherries) with a hint of Mediterranean vegetation (garrigue) and a touch of smokiness. Fresh taste in the mouth with ripe fruit flavours.

Round tannins, good length. The 2007 are of garnet-red robe. Nose: Ripe fruit, jam. Acidulated in mouth, point of cocoa, liquorice. Length and roundness in mouth. Collioure 2007: of beautiful robe crimson. Good purple colour.
